Cocamidopropyl Betaine is an mixture obtained from various organic compounds obtained from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine. This is pale yellow in color and is widely used as surfactant in beauty products. It is produced from the reaction of dimethylaminopropylamine and fatty acids derived from coconut oil. It is a commonly used ingredient in shampoo for boosting the formation of foam. This medium strength surfactant has found applications in hand soaps as emulsifying agent and thickener.
